September 6, 2018, MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. ("MACOM") is a leading provider of high performance RF, microwave, millimeter wave and photonic solutions, and announces a new 25G Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser portfolio for the next generation 5G LTE wireless front-end infrastructure design. Relying on MACOM's industry leadership in 4G LTE connectivity solutions, the new laser pointer portfolio is expected to help wireless carriers deploy 25G fiber links to achieve the commercial scale and cost structure required for 5G.
MACOM's new 25G DFB lasers are available in bare die (1xxD-25I-LCT11-50x) and TO packages (1xxD-25I-LT5xC-50x) for operation over the -40 to 85°C temperature range up to 2 Up to 10 kilometers. The new 25G laser will meet stringent operational requirements while helping to extend wireless infrastructure bandwidth for high-speed 5G connectivity.
MACOM's new industrial temperature grade 25G laser portfolio leverages MACOM's proprietary EFT that has reached commercial scale manufacturing levels for breakthrough cost-effectiveness and product consistency. MACOM believes that this high-volume production capacity sets us apart as the leading supplier of 25G lasers for a wide range of cloud data centers and wireless infrastructure applications.
"MACOM's new 5G LTE-optimized 25G laser series is based on our complete product portfolio supporting 5G technology, once again demonstrating the value of EFT in achieving production efficiency to meet the needs of industry supply and cost structure," MACOM Lightwave Division Dr. Fang Wang, vice president and business line manager, said. "For customers who switch from 10G to 25G wireless front-end infrastructure, MACOM can provide 25G lasers, complementary components and application expertise to accelerate deployment and reduce costs." MACOM's industrial temperature grade 25G lasers are now sampling to customers.
