At present, more and more companies are entering the field of green laser pointer radar, and low cost is becoming its development trend. In addition to the traditional strong industry leader Velodyne, other such as the US Quanergy, TriLumina, Germany's IBEO, Israel's Innoviz, the Netherlands' Innoluce, and Canada's Leddartech have also joined the battle, and the sun is growing.
The amount of information obtained is rich: the distance, angle, reflection intensity, speed and other information of the target can be directly obtained, and the multi-dimensional image of the target is generated, so that the whole picture is more intuitive.
Under the weather conditions such as rain, snow, dense fog and dust storm, the propagation distance of the laser beam is greatly affected. The atmospheric circulation will also cause the laser beam to be distorted and shaken, which directly affects the measurement accuracy of the green laser pointer radar and seriously affects the driving safety. It is a natural defect of on-board lidar. However, the millimeter wave radar has a strong ability to penetrate smoke, fog, and dust (the longer the wavelength, the stronger the penetration), which is a big advantage over the laser radar. In addition, high cost, large size, and low productivity are also shortcomings of automotive laser radar.
Lidar originated in the 1960s, but it was not until the market in 1995, and it started late. At present, it is represented by Hesai Technology, Sagitar Juchuang, Beike Tianqi, Siyu Technology, Radium Intelligence, etc. Their green laser pointer radar products are mostly used in terrain mapping, building survey, sweeping robots, etc. Trying to apply laser radar to the automatic driving scene, but most of the core technology is still in the hands of foreign companies, technical barriers are difficult to break.
The global car green laser pointer radar technology is still in the process of continuous exploration and research and development. With the rapid development of autonomous driving technology and the capital tilt caused by emerging industries such as 3D printing, drones and service robots, the future will be onboard. It is only a matter of time before laser radar can overcome these technical problems, and the development space of the whole industry in the future is also huge.
