After researching and consulting multiple suppliers, LaserCheval again turned his attention to Cognex. Due to the comprehensive limitations of the application, LaserCheval quickly adopted a solution based on VisionProPC.
"VisionPro vision software tools provide us with the richness, variety, and power needed to apply Laser Engraver," explains Michel Bertin, Director of IT Development at LaserCheval, "Cognex PatMax component and feature positioning technology, geometric tools and calibration functions, and more The tools and features give us a significant advantage. "In particular, these calibration issues led LaserCheval to choose a PC-based solution, which is the only powerful solution to help customers implement the ideal computing method.
"VisionPro has proven its superiority in vision tool performance, flexibility based on a rich and comprehensive object library program, integration with development tools, and integrated graphics components. No competitor can beat this Laser Engraver advantage combination, "Bertin said.
CheLaserCheval created a prototype using VisionPro software and conducted full-scale trials at customer sites. Feasibility testing goes beyond tolerance specifications, which is the primary criterion for choosing an automation solution. Then, the completed workpiece engraving quality was measured and counted. The result: for angular tolerances within 0.5 °, the standard deviation of positioning is less than 20 microns.
Based on nearly 10 years of experience and expertise in the field of machine vision and proven ability to integrate this technology into the machines produced, LaserCheval is fully capable of achieving this application. In view of the positive test results, the customer recognized the automatic vision machine and a key element of the automation system-the machine vision component.
Automatic workpiece positioning, micron precision positioning, simple, flexible and safe operation and many more advantages
EngLaserCheval's logo Laser Engraver is equipped with a motor-driven shaft. These Cognex vision-controlled axes accurately position each of the 1,200 workpieces and can load up to 12 axes at any time, in any sequence.
No matter where it is on the workbench, VisionPro can automatically position each workpiece. Then, it transmits the precise coordinates of the workpiece (x, y, and θ in laser coordinates) to the axis control system. It moves the workpiece under the laser engraving head, and the positioning accuracy is far better than the positioning tolerance obtained by manual positioning.
On this project, LaserCheval is responsible for programming the automation control of machine components (axis, laser, and vision systems); developing user-friendly interfaces for the implementation and modification of vision programs; ensuring secure user access for modification; integrating the integrity of Laser Engraver machines User configuration (product code, packaging, component programs, calibration of the vision system, etc.) and design of an extremely simple user interface.
