If laser rifles (such as Star Wars or other series) exist, will the military use them? Are modern weapons superior? What types of advancements are needed for laser pointer rifles to be comparable to modern weapons? I believe that the Geneva Convention prohibits the use of actual lasers. Not sure about plasma weapons.
According to my memory, any weapon designed to kill people will work, but any weapon that may maimed but cannot kill people will not work. If it causes harm to the human body, especially the hollow point and the 0.223 bullet after it starts to roll, the bullet will have a considerable impact. In addition, any high-caliber, high-speed bullets, the kinetic energy damage they cause is very important.
Laser, unless it explodes for a long time for cutting, it will only go in and out directly and burn the wound. Plasma bolts may be more interesting. If it passes through the body, the residue will continue to burn a little, which will cause a bigger wound. After finding the right tool for death, it boils down to the cost and whether the troops can easily carry it. Most of the futuristic weapons you see require a huge source of power.
In terms of science fiction, what forms of weapons, bullets, lasers, etc., will the crew use in space?
For the near-term solar system based on current technology missiles and guns, lasers may consume a lot of energy. For Star Trek/Galactic style combat, you will have to make up for it, your travel speed is faster than the speed of light, which is completely beyond the known science, so any weapon is a must.
A pistol for home defense, a red dot or a green laser pointer sight which is better? What do you think is family defense? Shoot the man who besieged your house across the street? What is so precious to you, or who did you anger? Are you up to 30 feet (length of corridor) from someone in your house? If you can't hit someone at 30 feet without a red dot or laser, then you shouldn't have a gun.
