Blue lasers are actually the same type of lasers that are used in Blu-ray technology. Although it is rarely prefered to the green and red ones, it could be used for what others do, which also reflects the individual unique aesthetic taste. As far as presentation pointers go, it can be a nice change of pace to use a blue laser pointer, but much more powerful blue lasers are also available. However it comes down to all other uses such as pinpointing something on the large screen or on the blackboard.

I purchased this for an extra bright night pointer for astronomy outreach.rnWhen it arrived, the battery which is around 4000-4500 mAh was defective. Oh well, shopping online, I upgraded to a 6000mAh for very little cash. I tested this laser with the fully charged new battery and at 4 inches, it was smoking black electrical tape, but after 15-20 seconds, didn\'t burn through. I next tried a shopping receipt, it started to make a black mark after a bit, no burn through. I tried a match at 2-3 inches but it would not ignite. I think for that you need a 1000mw laser but for what I am doing, it is extremely bright and I am very happy. Good construction, turn the locking key while gently wiggling it.

Shipped very quickly. Seems well-made. Powerful enough (without the starburst lens) to see the beam touch the clouds. As others have said, battery goes in backwards: Negative end toward LED. VERY apprehensive about disturbing warning not to use continuously for more than 15 seconds. That seems like an unreasonably short period of time and accounts for my reluctance to award five stars. If I have it for a year, and the LED doesn't burn out, I'll say that I would certainly recommend it to a friend.
