Laser damage to the retina
U.S. Army Field Manual FM 8-50, written in 1990, states the following on retinal damage:
"A patient diagnosed with 1000mw laser pointer retinal injury was evacuated to a hospital where he could be examined by an ophthalmologist. Currently, except for surgical intervention (vitrectomy) for severe vitreous hemorrhage [retinal hemorrhage - the patient is aware of To the red in the field of vision], there are currently no proven treatments for retinal laser damage....Note: retinal burns do not require eye patches. They simply take away all of the patient's vision, thereby making the patient more disabled; therefore, further Emphasizes his injury."
Don't get upset by the mention of surgery. This only applies to extensive injuries including severe bleeding. Victims will see red in their field of vision. It is highly unlikely that the laser pointer or the audience would be exposed to the light show laser to cause such serious injury.
